All ATV repeater receivers should be crystal controlled. Even a temperature stabilized free running oscillator will slowly change frequency with age, dust accumulation, oxidation, etc. Once themachine is up and operating well, you probably will not want to make several trips to the hill top to just tweek the LOback on center frequency. see http://www.hamtv.com/ for more info WORKS GREAT.
