More Information.The KI4LAO UHF repeater is located near I664 and Jefferson ave in Newport News VA and is currently active weekday evenings and most of the weekends.The goal of the 444.775+ repeater is to get more folks involved with amateur radio and to provide expanded communications in the event of an emergency.Right now the repeater utilizes a 23 ft tower with a vertical dipole which limits its range but there are plans to have a higher tower by spring.Mobile units should be able to hit the repeater from about 3 miles out but higher fixed stations should be able to reach it at much greater distances.So give it a try!
